Pavilion of Dermatovenerology and Palliative Care

Realization date: -

The investor's intention is to support the development of supporting innovation infrastructure through the implementation of a new pavilion with Dermatovenerology and Palliative Care, including facilities for research and cooperation with commercial and academic partners, ambulances, inpatient facilities and all necessary medical facilities. The pavilion will be implemented as an extension to the existing pavilion D, with which it will be operationally connected. All this should lead to an increase in the quality of science and research, standard of care, optimization of the layout and adaptation of the operation to current legislative and demand requirements in the field of R&D through the connection to the already existing innovative R&D infrastructure in FNKV. The current workplaces are already obsolete and unsatisfactory.
The new building is located on the site of the existing parking lot at Hall D. The building is designed on a rectangular floor plan with overall dimensions of 37.35 m x 17.73 m. The height of the building at the main entrance is 16.9 m above the ground. The building has one underground partially recessed floor and four above-ground floors. To ensure vertical communication, two communication cores are designed, each with one bed elevator. The building respects the sloping terrain, uses the connection of pavilion D and the new building by air, while maintaining the ability to walk through the front of buildings in a transverse direction under this neck.

The basic volume in the form of a white plastered block is airily supported by oval pillars and a basement base. The white block is cut by rows of narrow window openings with sloping lintels. Narrow window openings protect the interior from overheating and at the same time ensure plenty of daylight thanks to the sloping lintels and the white color of the façade. Three distinctive linear elements, two verticals of the glazing of the stairs and the horizontal of the footbridge, complement the otherwise sober rhythmic composition of the window openings.

The corners are rounded similarly to the neighboring historic building, the gently rounded corners underline a pure simple expression. The window frames are not very visible, they will be covered with a facade insulation system. Color of frames and locksmith elements anthracite. The upper partially sloping floor will be more glazed and materially different from the main mass, the lightened dark line of the top floor completes the composition and optically reduces the object. The building is crowned by a thin "levitating" plaque with rounded corners.
