Family house - Propast - Reconstruction
Realization date: 2013
The house was originally built in 1938 by prominent Czechoslovak functionalist architect Vladimir Karfík (eg author Bata skyscraper in Zlín).
Reconstruction was carried out for a middle-aged media businessman who had totally fll in love with this old functionalist villa and its beautiful surroundings and without any hesitation he immediately bought the object.
The main aim was to reconstruct the house with respect to the original architectural design, because that was very timeless at that time and the solution is very functional and up to date even today.
The capacity of the building was absolutely respected; no need for adding anything or demolishing. The only interference is placing larger sized glazing allowing generous opening of the house to the garden. Most of the windows are in French style, with a minimum width of the sill.
Some partitions of smaller rooms were demolished in order to lighten and get more space. The villa is designed as a pure white cube with a recess porch and roof terrace, which sits on the existing stone plinth.
Everything is solved with respect to the original functionalist style .
